Through an interactive presentation, Jarrett discusses how he grew from a boy who loved to write stories and draw pictures to an adult who writes and illustrates books. Jarrett will read his books, share the stories behind the making of the books and give a slide show that details his growth as an artist and author. Students will see drawings that Jarrett made when he was their age and be captivated by the progress a single painting makes from sketch to finish. Jarrett will talk about the writing process and focus on the importance of revisions.

Jarrett inspires children to think critically on how a book can come into existence. Themes of never giving up, practice makes perfect, and believing in oneself are present throughout.

Presentations are appropriate for all age levels (Kindergarten through college). The depth of the presentation will be adjusted for the appropriate age level. Presentations are 45 minutes long and include time for questions and answers. Jarrett ends every presentation by giving a drawing lesson involving one of his characters.
