  • Totally in support!

  • This seems a great new idea for Auckland. Our central city will have quite a different feel, way more welcoming and open. Traffic will take the back seat and the city can be owned by pedestrians once more. Innovation to our city design offers an exciting and brighter future for Auckland. Thank you.

  • I dislike the grey of the paving tiles. Depressing. The old Queen street pavement colour was really nice (a brown-pink colour).

  • Good idea! Auckland is a great city, but it has many faults. I think shared spaces are a great way to also add a more vibrant flavour to the city which it is somewhat lacking in my opinion.

  • Gehl Architects are awesome.

  • Very interesting. I would love to see this firsthand to form my own opinion, but I respect those who already endorse it. I wonder if any City in USA has courage to try this, without opening themselves up to great liability risk if someone were to get hurt. That seems to be a major obstacle for any new innovation like this.

  • Wonderful! I am encouraging small towns to bring this into their plans as well. They are often uniquely prepared for this kind of conversion.

  • Fantastic work Auckland - the tipping point has turned - congratulations - look forward to experiencing this great city of the future - UAE

  • There was a small town in Germany where they converted it into shared spaces.. it worked.

  • Brilliant idea. Wonderful to see some progressive thinking to help develop Auckland into the city it should and can be.

  • Thanks! This is a great video, not only explaining your plans but the thinking behind it. Nicely done. Would be great to have a link where we can have our say or find out more.
