  • This is a German ww1. Some had solid leather scab, some leather coated steel. Solid leather was the 1st, and worth far more. My guess on this is 250-350.oo.

  • @d3rdbaseace sorry to dissapoint you but it was confirmed to be french ww2 by a militaria collector and it was sold in auction for £25-john

  • yeah the fullered section/blood groove (allows for air to be let out stopping vacume geting it stuck in side a body) is unusualy large. i have a few german bayonets and they all have metal scabards with no muzzle ring so i might suggest its not german. possible swiss. im guessing there are no makers marks or stamps visible on the hilt

  • @donoghue666 no there are no makers stamps or marks etc - and its very light for a bayonet,i have some enfield bayonets that are much better quality and weight but this bayonet i am still baffled with - john

  • At least it is not a German K98 bayonet from WW 2 , ......I've had one of those , that one looks different , also the scabbard was not made of leather , but metal , greetz , 61diemai

  • @61diemai cheers for comment so now i know its not a k98 bayonet.....the case is leather i always thought bayonet scabbards were made from steel etc....so maybe a dress bayonet or so - im sure theres a you tuber out there who can identify it - all the best my friend for your info

  • It looks to be a shortened British P1856/58/60 (all very similar) yataghan bayonet. The Victorians did it for cadet units ect which would match the scabbard thats for the 1888 Pattern bayonet.

  • hey i have just been doing some research on my bayonet, its a British India Enfield Mkii. I worked that all out by the detail on the blade near the hilt might check there on yours if you haven't already. By the way i know what your saying about the Enfield bayonets being nice and solid!

  • It's a early war german 98k bajonet, my grandfather have one of those.

  • as a matter of fact yes it is a light bayonet i have seen some heavier.....still baffled though haha - cheers for comment-maybe someone on here can shed a light on the subject - it has that feel about it
