Cambridge is well known for its award winning University which is currenty 800 years old plus its super sights and award winning shops, perfect for present shopping. The station has one of the longest platforms with platforms 1 and 4 combined but there are separated by the signalling layout. The station has 6 platforms. Services are provided by National Express, First Capital Connect and Cross Country. At the time of my visit it looked like a christmas card as snow covered some of the platform and all of the tracks plus it was very cold.
There were a few surprises that I was not expecting in addional to the ususal 317/6's 365's and 170's. The first one was Stansted Express 317 884 working the 14:51 to London Liverpool St with refurbished First Capital Connect 317 339 working the 14:55 to London Kings Cross. The second one was 66 063 hauling a ballast train, this was followed by 66 593 hauling an aggregates train. Two freight trains at Cambridge in a short space of time is rare but you have to be lucky and today I was.
However I was on the station for 2 hours in freezing temperates which was long enough as my fingers were frozen stiff. This is my last video before Christmas and probably for 2009 so MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
