conkyjoe went deep into the vault to bring you this extremely rare, one of a kind TV jam with Mike Pinera, new member of Iron Butterfly and Ted Nugent of The Amboy Dukes. They were in Miami for a summer pop festival and stopped by the TV station for a one on one guitar only jam. These guys changed the music scene back in the day. Enjoy.

This is a very long time ago. I don't know what this clip proves either way exactly. I can tell you one thing, I saw Uncle Ted live in Indianapolis last year. Make no mistake the man can play. I have seen some great guitarist live: steve vai, eric johnson, kenny wayne shepherd, etc.. Ted can hold his own live, trust me.

He played for two hours and did not miss a note. Never heard such a wall of sound that came from those 5150's that night. Very underrated player imho.

Tremendous guitar playing. I'm actually unfamiliar with Nugent's work(though I've heard his name), but both of them are very inspired in their playing on this clip. It's not often that guitar works well by itself but this is a pleasing exception. Thanks for sharing it.

i saw pinera live in the 60's at venue called the bank in torrance s calf, he smoked then too

Mike Pinera was so much better than Ted it isn't funny, Ted looks like he's lost. Mike is solid and Ted's Rhythm is out to lunch. I saw this thing live and it wasn't even a contest. Ted only plays in baby tuning, those of you who don't get that probably never will.

It's kind of funny you'll notice after watching it a few times. At the beginning, when they first cut over to Ted.... he's like, come on' man.,, lets get this jam going! lol. Like he's not use to waiting second on stage & Mikes kind of endulging in the moment! ^_^
