Produced by the Brewhouse Studio for Gerding Edlen Development and GBD Architects.

GBD just finished the design of "the 20 on Hawthorne," a new building in the Hawthorne neighborhood of southeast Portland. These apartments feature lots of sustainable amenities, and are slated to reach LEED Certification.

One of the unique features is the automated parking system, which parks 29 cars in the space of 10. This system moves cars up, down, or side to side in order to accomodate vehicles into three different levels.

Gerding Edlen asked the Brewhouse to produce a video that would explain how the system is quick, simple to use, and fun.

  • @jaehoonyu31 Also, elevators break down all the time. When that happens, I take the stairs...I don't think that my car could do that.

  • @jaehoonyu31 Lots more moving parts here then an elevator also elevators use cable not linked chain, that alone makes a world of difference.

  • @RedGrobo Says the person never rides elevator in his/her life lol

  • Sooo what happens when one of those chains (Composed of thousands of links any one of which could break.) does break?

    Cool, yes, practical... no.

  • It really is a great concept, but I have just one question. What if it breaks down and I need my car?
