This silly clock (and Port viewer) uses a cheap CA-42 USB to (not-really-TTL) RS-232 cable to communicate with a PIC 18F2523 and DS3234 RTC.
Fun? - Yes. Practical, for a clock? - No! But there are LOTS of other really good uses for dirt cheap, ultra simple USB connectivity for any microcontroller.
