I wondered how easy is it is to make this kind of music, answer=, not very (at least not and make it sound interesting and melodic) I wrote the backing track using Apple Logic and my keyboard, playing all the parts myself, the only sample is the drum loop. It is not a very interesting tune, but an interesting experiment. I'll stick to mainstream jazz! I have newfound respect for Mr Gee and Mr Koz. This is not meant to be disrespectful to the style, I actually secretly quite like it. The guitar work is a little Benson-esque hopefully, and he is my hero, so if that's smooth jazz, then I love it. I am particularly proud of the rabbit face I pull during the end of the guitar solo. Not flattering. I may well cover that with some annotation, so catch it while you can. You can watch this vid in high quality sound and audio, you lucky people! (you can really hone in on the double chin and rabbit teeth in HQ)

  • Great job my friend. Some nice soloing on both instruments here. Nice to see the Guild get an airing too! (I think it's a Guild!) All the best CD and coming back at you with a video!

    John

  • Hi John, yes it is the trusty Guild X-150, the nicest Jazzer I have had, beats my 70's 175 hands down. Good to have you back!

  • i am sorry about just leaving that comment it was succint,so you are a cool musician.20.00 for the flute what kind of flute? i have a lot of your stuff saved on my youtube,if it is true you taught yourself then you taught yourself well.have you ever thought about teaching other people to play?i wont take up anymore of your time,i know you rich kids are busy (just kidding) lol.

  • I have deleted the offending comment sorry, (it is not as harsh as it seems here in the UK) Your Mccain comment was far more offensive :-) The flute is a Boosey and Hawkes Regent, plays fine. I have taught myself guitar and sax by listening and copying. I have had a great sax teacher, but he helps me mainly with reading and scales, the improv is up to me :-) Funnily enough someone has approached me for lessons, so I might give it a shot :-)

  • i can not belive you would say something like that,it seems like you have a house and countless instruments and a family and you are very talented, you have a rich ego also,i would expect that kind of comment from a rich kid.someone who wound not understand how much they have and not look down on someone who does not have as much.i thought you were a cool musician, but you come across as an rich kid with the attitude to match.(you must have voted for Mccain)

  • Sorry, you initial comment was just "you must be rich" with no explanation. It is maybe an odd comment to leave, and it is normally the sort of comment I get from haters who somehow think that you need money to be able to play an instrument. That is not the case, my flute cost $20 from a flea market, and my dad has helped me buy a horn recently. I am not rich, I choose to spend my money on instruments and I am pretty much self taught.. Sorry if I offended you

  • This is NOT smooth jazz. If you really want to categorise it...it is more Acid Jazz or Ambient Jazz than anything else. Melody is the focus...accentuated with the groove...you've done a great job.

  • Smooooovve groooooove. Very nice! I like smooth jazz as well other variations of this fine Art.

  • as usual superb playing. please check out my band Every kinda people- Walking by myself on this site.
