Puppets of the automobile/oil/asphalt/constru
ction industry, free yourselves. We would all prefer a garden of eden over this suffocating ocean of poisonous asphalt and concrete. Gangster cartels built this wasteful ugly atrocity of a 'nation' and enslaved everyone to it's stupid automobile slavery design. I stopped driving 11 years ago and never regret it. I saved lots of money, time and headaches. Zombies, wake up. Free yourselves from your corporate-designed slavery. CarFree . com ... End war. -

@AlNouveau Yes, that is a plan I can live with. For it means energy independence for the common man, the little guy. We need to put an end to all the energy retailers so the whole world can live in freedom from their enslaving ways. If we do this, brown outs and power outages will be a thing of the past. But trust me some of us are already working on technology that will do just that, give the common man complete energy independence.

@JustPlaneNuts Yeah there is no such thing as clean coal, it's dirty in and dirty out.
Hemp should be brought back for it can take over just about all oil can do, even in making plastics. The only reason it was outlawed is the plant could do too much good. Look up "Run From the Cure" and see what I mean. But America right now should be making an all out push to have bloom energy boxes in every home bar none. We need to do away with 1900 century technology and end all energy retailers.

Frankly, I think he spoke as he sees it, without sugar-coating. I appreciate his domestic interests. I'd rather hear this than all of the communist lies from Bush. Bush never addressed one single domestic problem. The only domestic interest Bush ever showed was for the Patriot Act and the North American Union treaty, both very negative for the people of the US. I don't disagree with anything Obama said here.

Obama has got to be careful with what he says about Offshore drilling. Offshore drilling is a very controversial issue among many Americans, and the last thing Obama needs right now is for this issue to turn into a deterrent, because he's still campaigning around the country trying to sell health care to the American people.
How about a new policy on drilling permits: use it or lose it. If petroleum companies don't use a permit within 12 months, they lose that permit. This will open up permits to their competitors and to smaller oil companies. They shouldn't be allowed to hold on to permits for years without using them, an anti-competitive process.

I don't like off-shore drilling, but we need to reduce our dependance on foreign oil. President Obama is just being pragmatic. Not dogmatic...
