@JessaddictedSP the song was written way back in the early 60's (1961?) and sat on some agent or publisher's shelf for 15 years or more (much the way "as time goes by did" til it was used in "casablanca"). i believe willie did the first widely promoted version. the buble version is a little too soft. and (speaking as jazz pianist) too jazzy. but from pet shop boyz to elvis to willie to this, the quality of the song itself is there...cheers

@JessaddictedSP you have 3 totally different singing styles covering the song, a tribute to the strength of the composition. in my opinion, willie nelson "owns it", in the same way sinatra "owns" my way. the song was i heard him sing it first ( as did most americans of that era: 80's). the pet shop boyz version is for me, a bit strange, especially since they change the chord harmony on the chorus."hook" (& did NOT improve it) also the dance beat. but, they did introduce it to new ears.
