One very practical aspect of 64-bit capable machines and operating systems is the ability to run multiple OSes at the same time. This is a quick demonstration of using my VM software of choice, VirtualBox (available for FREE at http://www.virtualbox.org) for running multiple OSes on your Mac.

For an in-depth look at VirtualBox, view my earlier video here:

  • Your Windows XP Professional doesn't look like XP. Looks more like Windows ME or 98..

  • Just how I like it ;). Personally I couldn't stand the Windows "Luna" interface that debuted with Windows XP in 2001, and on all my systems I always switch the theme back to Windows Classic ASAP.

  • I'm gonna upgrade my Mac mini from the stock 1GB of RAM to 2.5GB RAM by putting a 2GB DIMM.

DDR2 RAM @667MHz can be found pretty cheap now.

  • Not too sure if the Mac mini can directly address a 2 GB stick. You may be safer getting two 1 GB sticks to ensure everything works properly.

  • how do you make a cd of ubuntu help please

  • In OS X you can use Disk Utility to burn an ISO image to CD.

  • this guy is awful smug about apple. no the market does not follow apple. sorry, they didn't invent or have a part in the ddr# standards nor the 802.11x stuff. then, since the 68k nor now, when there is little difference an expensive mac or a pos dell. ok maybe firewire? but serious, who the fuck uses that anymore aside from kid touchers and people in San Francisco .

  • Huge mistake: "One very practical aspect of 64-bit capable machines and operating systems is the ability to run multiple OSes at the same time." Virtualization has nothing to do with 64 bits!!
