Forget all those silly science fiction movies you've seen for a moment.... This is the story of the beginning of REAL SPACE TRAVEL and for many of you watching, you weren't even born when it happened. Many young people today don't really have a clue how(or if) we went to the moon or the tremendous sacrifice and risk and cost and bravery that was involved to to get us there. This is the story of the APOLLO program.

Between 1968 and 1972, the world watched in awe each time an American spacecraft voyaged to the Moon. Only 12 American men walked upon its surface and they remain the only human beings to have stood on another world. Now for the first time, and very possibly the last, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON combines archival material from the original NASA film footage, much of it never before seen, with interviews with the surviving astronauts who emerge as eloquent, witty, emotional and very human.

I wanted to thank you again for posting this.I had heard of it but never seen this show. Thanks to you I purchased the DVD and I cant tell you how much I enjoy this film. I think the thing that strikes me the most is the close up shots of these guys faces while they are talking. I think they have aged very well. With age comes wisdom and reflection, mercy and the ability to convey emotions and experience in a conversation the way only someone older could do. awesome ! thanks again !

I still remember watching black & white newsreels of the X-15 etc. I was 10 when I watched Apollo on TV, I still remember it vividly ! Thanks so much for posting.

It's the same for me! I'm a student of aerospace engineering and everytime a test went bad or the pressure gets to high, I watch this to get my focus back :-)
