4.9L 300 CID Inline six with Midas Gold Muffler
Accepting suggestions for a new muffler or exhaust system. The one i had put on was just so i could bare driving in the cabin. when i found the truck there was nothing left of the old original exhaust and muffler.

  • Thank you for all your comments guys! I find myself getting more education here than i have anywhere else! I'm hoping to get some new videos up this summer, i'll be working more or less full time so I hope i'll get some time to goof around with the truck a little more.

    Thanks Again!

  • @Orttymonster1 do you know any performance tips for a stock 300 straight 6?

  • @bmcdo123 I'm sorry i don't, The most i've been able to do with this truck all summer was replace the valve cover gasket, I've been too busy :S

I'm constantly on the search though for tips myself if I come across anything i think is substantial I'll try to pass it on.

  • i put a hedmann header on my 77 with an inline 6. i ran it into dual glasspacks. it idles like a V8 but doesnt have the same top end sound, more like a four bangin ricer but deeper. im also lookin at an offenhauser 4bbl manifold with an holley carb. its nice to be able to find performance upgrades even for an inline!!!

  • @2011nm I know you commented a loong time ago, but I was thinking about going up to a 4bbl Holley Carb and i was told the six can't get up enough gusto to use the last two barrels so it was pointless to spend the extra money on a 4bbl carb.

  • Put a sporty flowmaster muffler on it, inline sixes sound like a duck farting in the water when they are made to be loud......

  • @Orttymonster1 yeah, thats what ive heard too. i decided the glasspacks werent loud enough so i cut it to straight headers. now im rebuilding the motor cuz something broke in the cam

  • @Orttymonster1 i have headers on mine straight pipe into 2 thrushs nd it sounds lovely...aint nothin on the road tht sounds like it

  • The Procharger C-1 or c-2 and a little mechanical know how should be easy to do and would net good gains all the way around. doing it to my 96 this spring. will let you all know!

  • @Orttymonster1 i got a 85 f-150 with the 300 6 cylinder. i put a cherry bomb glasspack on just behing the cab and no tail pipe coming out of the glasspack. it sounds sweet. if you want to break up the insulation theres two things you can do. drive around for a bit then put some water in the glasspack while its still hot. or heat up the mufler with a torch then hit it with a hammer
