The 15 year old expression from this classic Speyside distillery outside of Dufftown comes from whisky aged in one of three barrel types: new oak, sherry, and bourbon. All three are then married in the Solera vat, followed by further time in Solera tuns. Since the Solera vat is always half-full, your 15 year old has been extracted from a very convoluted mixture of differently-aged Glenfiddich.
hi MrLibTrasher. Were those glasses glencarin, as I recommended? The Glenfiddich 15 year old is my favorite 15 year. You may like the Glenlivet 15, but it is an acquired taste. Sadly that Johnnie Walker Green Label went down hill in quality over the years. When it came out in 2004, it was great. You may not like it. Try to find a 2004 bottle, if that's possible. Try to make a video comparison of JW Gold and Chivas 18. Tell me if you liked Strathisla? Also try Balvenie 12 Double Wood.
@wesleytaylorviadomus I still have to get some glencarin my friend. Those were 1 and a half ounce shot glasses. I'm with you on the 15 year old Glenfiddich. Definitely a fine tasting single malt. The JW Gold is definitely a fine tasting scotch as well. I'll have to do a comparison between that and the Chivas 18. I found little difference between the two though as I sipped on a little of both of those the same week. I'll look for the Balvenie 12 Double Wood as you suggested. Thanks!
