  • have you thought that maybe he's changing feahters? Don't freak out and let the nature do its job. Think about this...if he's free in the jungle, wouldn't it be the same? Take it easy on yoursef without guilts 'cause this isn't going to help anyone. Just keep on the care and love you have been giving him and everything WILL BE FINE. :)

  • @margaritacordovas hes been like this for years even before we got him im trying to get him to stop

  • Put his cage and perch, swings, rings in front of windows. African grey parrots like to watch, what is happening outside.

  • we have him away from windows right now its way tooo cold for him to be by them

  • I have found it on the Internet : "These are the supplements that I believe helped him to stop plucking and grow his feathers back. He's been plucked for 2 years. The Missing Link and 100% Powdered Cuttlebone. I sprinkle it on his peanut butter toast every morning. ". Do not shower, but spray (mist) with aloe vera solution, it may help. Give him chewing toys that he loves to chew. 2 hours per day out of cage is too little. If you have possibility to let him come out of cage for more time, do it.

  • i usually have him out for 4-5 hours a day he has plenty of toys and snacks

  • seed mix is not good....

  • My Grey plucks too he has done it since I got him. Now I never lock him in a cage. He sleeps in bedroom on door. The person I got him from sprayed him with a water bottle. I have found he will play in water if it drips not running. Use a glass cake pan to play in. Have something for him to dunk in the water. If you see him pluck, say nothing just act like nothing is happening.

  • looks like the bird I just got...

  • i have a green quaker parrot and he has had a bald spot on his chest for a long time now. someone told me that he was molting but it hasnt grown in yet and it looks like its trying to grow back but all i see is feather stubs. i dont think hes feather plucking cause i never see him picking at himself, only to preen himself. i give him baths and he likes that. he also has toys and another bird with him. i dont think she picks him either. what do you guys think? i really need help. it wont go away.

  • My 17yo Congo just started plucking. Turns out that our dry, indoor conditions coincided with a particularly uncomfortable molt--little pinfeathers and dry skin. Beau hates baths too, but I just keep in mind that the baths (with 50/50 aloe vera juice and water) must be done.

I put Beau in the bathtub and spray a fine mist upwards so it lands softly. I put the nozzle on stream and "flap" him in the tub to get under his wings. After, I wrap him in a towel to cuddle and pet him til he relaxes.

  • take some toys out hell get 2 occupied i no it sounds stupid but my parrot was worse than that so all i left in his cage was 1 perch and he stopped and feathers are growing bak alos get a plant sprayer and spray a light mist above the parrots head he will soon enjoy 2 shower if this helps plz send me a comment bak thanks

  • How old is your bird ? .. maybe add some ice cubes to water for him to play with .. took awhile for my timneh to like water . had to put lil drops on my finger tip them move up to sprinkling a lil with my hand . But always told him before I started doing it .Def needs lots of chew things even plain toilet paper no dyes or perfumes They love I would also suggest maybe a visit to the Vet making sure there is nothing else going on ... . Wishing you much luck !

  • Hi,

Has he been to an Avian Vet. I read that you should start there. Then yes, I have heard much success using an aloe Vera spray. I do understand that your parrot is bad about bathing. Banjoko is too. He is not quite yet two, but I so dread the possibility that he might pluck one day. Keep us posted
