  • It is, isn't it. And that shot of Cushing with a magnifying glass would be repeated again and again throughout his career, in the Sherlock Holmes TV show for BBC and in Top Secret (1983) - the latter being a clever spoof of the shot as the glass is removed to reveal his character ACTUALLY has a gigantic eye!

  • It's odd how the WB DVDs have censored stuff in this movie but uncensored stuff in Horror of Dracula

  • @Gorboduc I just watched this last night on TCM (DVRed it Halloween morning) and they showed the censored version. :(

  • TCM (America's best movie channel) shows the uncensored version.

  • one of the greatest Dr. Frankensteins ever!

  • yes, Hammer was well known for releasing different film versions for different areas, depending on how tough the censors were... some places allow more graphic scenes than others.

  • There was supposed to be a scene where after Frankenstein drops the decapitated

highwayman's head in the vat of acid,we see the head burn. It was supposedly put in the Japanese print. Does anyone have this footage?

  • @unclealand Looks like a real sheep's eye to me.

  • The eye looks so fake, no wonder they cut it.

  • Apparently there is an extra scene in Drac's death where Christopher seems to pull his face off. I've not seen it but it sounds like it should have been left in!

  • I always heard there were extra gory scenes in Horror of Dracula omitted for US audiences but shown in the version that played in Japan(!) One still I've seen shows a decayed Harker in his coffin after Dracula has gotten to him.
