When I was buying the parts for this, the fellow at Home Hardware in Shelburne Talked me into buying the valve. It makes the system work excellently since the heat in the pipe is not consistent throughout. Previous designs that didn't have a valve would suddenly scorch you.

Had a record of 112 degrees F at 12:30 today!
With the thermostatic valve at max, the shower went forever! (not a very scientific value I'll grant you, so i will time it later!)
