  • Hey, im trying to add retracts to my foam p-51 mustang too.Any reccomendations of how to do it?Id greatly appriciate any info from anyone. Thanks!

  • @MrStallion87

In the P-51 and in the Ki-61 I used a central servo for the mains. It is best to use a 180° servo rather than a standard one (see my Ki-61 blog at the end). You can also buy 180° servos (I was not able to place the link here).

  • The retracts in the P-51 were from E-flite I think I got in a local hobby shop, but there are others available.Today there are also a number of servoless retracts available that make the installation much easier (again, I could not place the link here to hobbyking).

  • Hey man i would like to know where you got that and about how uch it cost you

Really good question. I didn't keep track of the parts and materials. For this one I didn't even make plans, just measured the Ultrafly remains and made most parts from 6mm cell foam. The wing skins are 3mm cell foam (See some pics in my blog).

  • I bought some sheets at at local hobby shop, maybe $20...$25 for this plane. But then you still need all the electronics, CF tubes, paint, little hardware etc.

Today I prefer Depron, but it's better to buy much more because of the shipping costs. Then you can build a couple of planes. My Tony is build similar, but from Depron.

  • very nice job, keep up the great work, Chellie

  • It needs some repair on the tail wheel, but I should bring it out next weekend again.

  • Hey that thing looks like an entertaining flyer - where have you been hiding this plane??
