Here are the five keys of mastery, and how my interest in running applies:

Surrender to Your Passion: When I run, I give it 100% without having to think about it. There are plateaus and pain that I encounter, but I lenjoy running so much that I don't really think about them.

Practice, Practice, Practice- I run between six and eight miles daily. If I'm not trying to run farther, I'm trying to run faster.

Get a Guide- I use an interactive program called Nikeplus that tracks how far I run, at what pace, and even motivates me.

Visualize the Outcome: What I always keep in mind is how happy I am when I do finish and know I tried my very hardest, and I think of that for motivation.

Play the Edge: Consistantly running on flat surfaces can be repetitive and create a plateau. I like to mix it up by hiking and working different muscles.

There is a theory that running may have played a key role in the human evolution process, resulting in a body so unique from other species. It is also interesting to note that while the humans are not the fastest animals, they can outrun nearly any other animal in long distances.
