What's it like leaving the vegan paradise of the San Francisco Bay Area and spending most of a month in Cleveland? In this episode, I talk about all the great activist opportunities that exist in cities with an emerging vegan presence, and I give a special shout-out to one of my favorite groups --- Mercy For Animals.
I am from Cleveland and vegan. While restaurant options are limited (I go to Richie Chan's, Tommy's, Tree Country and yes Q'doba / Chipotle because they are cheap and great). Cleveland does have a strength. Because of our restaurant scene and our airport, we have a major food terminal, West Side Market, Food Coop, Whole Foods, and the best of the best Good Harvest Asian market in China Town, among 5-7 other asian markets. I get top quality produce year round, durian, jackfruit and cherimoya too

I like your positive spin on a seemingly bad situation. It makes me feel better about living in a not-so-vegan-friendly place.

I think it's all relative. Compared to where i live, Cleveland is a vegan paradise. And where i live is a vegan paradise compared to other towns.

Animal crap (mostly cows) is the cause of 60% of ground water pollution in the U.S. I eat only plant foods and would be glad to see the end of all the worthless animals on this planet. This does not include wild animals that are not used for human food.

Good way to look at the lack of vegan options! I think Indianapolis should have a better selection considering its size :(

Thanks for the encouraging words!! I live in Mississippi/Alabama and it's not common at all to have vegan options so I really like your idea of making it a "challenge" to change the way things are :)
