@JohnnyNeptunchi Great that you bought the fretless one! Have you read my blog posts about my signal chain? Check it out at playubass[dot]wordpress[dot]co
m If you don't use a pre-amp before your amp och PA system you will get a quite harsh sound. But using a pre-amp will soften the sound…It will hopefully help getting a more upright sounding sound! I'll keep you (and everyone else) posted on how my CDs projects develop on my blog! Take care!

"I received my uBass 2 (spruce top, fretted) and love it. I usually play short (30") scale basses and did not find the size of this bass that hard to adapt too. I am playing it thru an Ampeg Portabass amp and the tone is great. As everyone says, very much similar to an upright bass. I used the normal passive input (without an outboard ..."

@JohnnyNeptunchi Thanks! What version did you buy? Just curious :)
I've only played this once with these guys. I just 'sat in' on two tunes without any rehearsal whatsoever...But hopefully I'll play with them again soon!
I have some recording planned for early 2012. Both a UBass specific CD and other stuff involving the UBass... Stay tuned on YouTube and at my blog playubass[dot]wordpress[dot]co

@Kalenski Thanks! I aim to put smiles on peoples faces. So thank you one again!
I'm wondering when you use your Fishman bass preamp for your Ubass, what's your preference or where do you set your bass and treble knobs?
popitn2nd 1 month ago
@popitn2nd Hi! Well I've used the Fishman preamp almost every time I've played the bass since I first got it July 2010. If I haven't it's because I might have forgot to bring it to the rehearsal or gig ;-)
About the settings: I put the treble and bass at "12" as a starting point but might roll of some treble to get rid of some piezo "uglyness"!
I've recently bought another preamp (2 channels, built in DI…) and I will compare the two in a future blog post at playubass[dot]wordpress[dot]com

Great playing! Anyway..What was that hanging behind your back on your guitar strap? Was that your pre amp?
popitn2nd 2 months ago
@popitn2nd Thanks! You're absolutely right! The Fishman Pre has a clip so I can put it on my strap. Sometimes I do this, sometimes I don't. This time it was a smart thing since I plugged straight into the mixing board that was far stage right. This way I could control volume and tone (treble and bass) right at the strap!
