I am American and would never trade our republic for a monarchy. Having said that, I still greatly admire Elizabeth II for her duty and dignity. It is a rare quality these days. You see in America, we only have a temporary leader that we elect every four years. But in Britain, their leader, the Queen has her job for life. We don't have that sense of continuity.

I also want to be British. It's way cooler than being Swedish

I was born British and by God, I always will be British. No matter what happens, no matter what the republicans do, no matter what nationalists do, nothing will stop me being British. God save Her Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and God bless the British Empire!

@alastairellis Scotland has the stone of destiny back it is on display in Edinburgh Castle with the honours of Scotland where it stays unless it is needed for a coronation where it travel to Westminster where the monarch who acording to ancient Scottish tradition sits on it and is crowned in the name of the United Kingdom including Scotland and the Commonwealth

@MrZadokthePriest I rspect the queen but Phillip is and always has been a liability to the Uk monarchy, he is an ignorant pontificating buffoon and the sooner he leaves his mortal coil the better
Can we have our stone of destiny back so we can appoint a true monarch of Scotland please or do we really have to wait until England goes bust and we buy it back in exchange for a barrel of oil
James 2nd of Scotland

I bear no anymosity to the queen, per se.But why hold her up as a representation of 'pride'? She,just like everyone else,is an accident of birth. It's not even as if the last 1000 years of history where monarchy is concerned has been wholly British.I love my country & am happy to be a Brit' but that shouldn't mean I have to get a flag out & wave it like a loon every time the queen puts in an apperance in public.

@alexandertory no id probably just learn how grateful i am to not live in either of those countries.
thats where i get confused, pride? what does pride have to do with it? its not like youve accomplished anything by being born here, its based on pure chance. appreciation is one thing, but pride?
I see images of our great past, listen to such wonderful music- all so evocative of a greater time, and it makes me feel sad. As a 19 year old I missed it, I missed my country in her prime and her glory. Now she is a decaying shadow of her former self, ruled by lying and corrupt politicians who bicker over trivialites and ignore what is important. Only our great monarchy give us anything left to have pride in, and some want to get rid of that! So similar to the final days of the Roman Empire...

@alonmerlin Those scum are no Brits. Brits are gentlemen. They are soldiers at heart. They are proud to be led by Her Majesty. They are proud of Britain's vast and rich history. And over all they are proud to be part of such a brilliant country. No country has a history and tradition as great as The United Kingdom's.
