M Piron, I believe you are correct about English not being easy; contrary to popular belief, English is a difficult language. But is the answer Esperanto? I think not. Esperanto, despite its easy grammar, has a vocabulary derived principally from European languages. Too bad for Chinese, Indians, Arabs, Africans, etc.
If you can find people who speak Esperanto in many countries, you will find more whose English, French, German, Spanish is more than adequate.
