Bright Shadow Online oddities

Now with a new name after reflecting on what "technical demonstration" usually implies...

This video was created (obviously using dxtory) with the intention of demonstrating to myself the possibility of capturing video during live play. It was successful. In the video itself, I exhibit less than spectacular play, but the techniques shown could still be very useful to a bright shadow player.

Standard skill cancel: push skill key, push it again a tiny bit later. This forces client to believe you have cancelled the skill but server continues casting; this means you can fool client into allowing you to send skills before the normal timing finishes. However the server still limits skill casting time so this is (normally) only useful to compensate for lag.

Zwei cancel: at precisely the right moment, move to cancel zwei sword and immediately use a second hotkey. This allows you to zwei slightly faster or use other skills more quickly after zwei. Also works with any active attacking skill that has a real-time attack during its casting bar.

Gale slash into zwei: I have yet to see a single Japanese player execute this move, ever. I'd like them to, it's useful! Gale slash, standard cancel; this must be done quickly as the skill only lasts 0.3 seconds cast. Move forward slightly and very quickly zwei (or in my case star stab). If done perfectly you send the attack packet before the monster is knocked, it arrives after the skill completes, and the server does not check for valid range. The chained skill is executed. This can also be done with any other skill such as a crazy slash. It can probably be stacked by a knight using shield knock.

Also, this game is free to play, and it has better music than this. I just turned it off because I'm used to having no music for zwei timings. I can do it easily with music now, but isn't it better that I put no custom music in?

I think I might make another one of these. It will probably focus on a more fundamental level, but will still be tearing things apart. Also likely to be played on American server. Also likely to be one of the few times I actually touch the American server. And owing to the response I see here, it will probably have unfitting music instead of the silence here.

Saturate 400 adverse sailing speed and at least 100 favorable and you can outrun any ship in any direction now. They doubled the speed of all ships. With good sailing it's now nearly impossible to lose against anything provided you have enough space to move and the attack isn't homing. Thus making it more tactical and less strategic. So I now prefer supcom again.

And stay off of land, there's nothing good there except boat parts and ammo!

Freaky. I guess almost any free to play can catch on here though. I've even been playing Florensia recently. It's completely atrocious; items are even lost if you're trading with someone who disconnects. But the big saving grace is the sea combat system, which was fun enough to make me quit playing Supreme Commander.

P.S. Frame cutting IS possible with ground targetting magic spells, you just use single target skills to force the frame cancel and time the recast. Tricky though.

the only thing i dont like about this game is your character slot? what the fuck is up with that... you can "only" creat one character and if you want to creat another one you will need to waste real money for cashpot to buy the other slot or else you only get to creat one character, thats why you be smart and make more then one account so no need to waste money on that dumb character slot.

Are you ever going to play the Gamepot version? I was thinking I would eventually see you on there sometime, but I guess your playing other games you must like better. I still play the Japanese version by the way.

Yea, can't say I agree with the character slot thing, but I also don't like how you have to click to go ANYWHERE... usually they would have a "Click and hold, avatar follows the mouse", or usage of the "WASD" keys... but I can't complain because the good of this game outweighs the bad.
