During student days in December 2006, Iranian students showed their opposition to Islamic regime of Iran and to Ahmadinejad by holding his upside down photos and burning them during his speech... Iranian students held large demonstrations at different universities with messages that called for better economy, peace with the world and Freedom of expression. They carried slogans such as: "Leave US alone, think of bread" , "We need bread, not bombs", "Free political prisoners" and " and "injustice is dressed as religion"...

It would be good if Iran followed Turkeys example of a Secular state seperating religion from politics. The dream of Islam ruling the world died with the Ottoman empire. I hope history and the present mess in the Islamic world teaches some lessons to muslim clerics and there is a chance for peace for the future. The hadiths and other hate Islamic books should be thrown away the Koran is supposed to be all you need, thats what it says in the Koran. Peace.

don't forget what 'secular' turkey did to kurds in the 90s - the turkish gov't killed more kurds than saddam hussein, and don't forget the genocide of armenians which the turkish gov't denies...and i disagree that koran is all you need: you need a social revolution, as we all do, and the question is whether religion will play a progressive role in bringing it about or instead continue to reinforce class domination, patriarchy, imperialism and so on.
