RGB LED Rope Lights are an extremely versitile product and, with their unique color-changing ability, have been used in a wide range of residential and commercial projects.

Each spool of our RGB LED rope light comes with its own Inline Mini Controller which comes preprogrammed with a set of special effect functions.

  • I bought two sets of these lights. They light up, but that's it. I think that from what I am seeing here, that I have to program these lights to do what they do ? What kind of program if so?

  • @angelinmenard

The effects you are seeing in the video are achieved using an RGB LED Inline Mini Controller. It operates by simply pressing a single button to cycle through the preprogrammed effects.

When voltage is applied to the LEDs, a current flows... varying this current varies the brightness of the LED.

If the LED at full brightness draws say 20 mA(milliAmps) then at 10mA the LED will be half as bright. At 5mA, 1/4 as bright.

Combinations of these varied brightnesses give the illusion of changing colour.

With the Red LED on full brightness and the Blue on at full brightness... you get purple... if the Blue was dimmed to Half brightness you would get a pinkish colour

  • you can buy very reliable LED dimmers made in the USA from Digital lighting systems Miami fl

  • Need to add sound, what you are doing or music. oh i see the function now at the bottom under the ad's. You need to put the functions up higher so people can see them.

  • @SimoWill75 understood, thanks, but still I'm not sure that I really understand how is the color chose? what change in the conditions do I need to make it order for the color to change?

and when you say three diodes, you mean their always separate or there are three diodes in the same bulb?

  • @BlackSoulOfHeaven

    You almost have it right.

Yes colour is based on wavelength, and yes frequency and wavelength are related.

However, the colour is not changed by changing the frequency of the voltage.

Each LED has three diodes in it, one each of the primary colours, Red Green and Blue(RGB). With this any colour can be reproduced by combining those three primaries and varying the brightness of each.

Varying the brightness is done by adjusting the current used by the LED's, by PWM.
