After various events in the past four months, I HAVE FINALLY GOTTEN AROUND TO UPLOADING THIS.

This is Episode #5992D, Bob Hilton's fourth-to-last show. And already we're getting into weird territory, with Mary making an odd (and time-wasting) decision during the open.

Recorded from WCAU-10 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (not by me), I apologize in advance for the quality -- the sound goes from mono to stereo at 1:48 and back at about 3:50, and the video's a bit blurry.
======
This upload is for at least four YouTube users who requested this: the episode specifically ("flokatirug"/"travis7310"), shows from the 1980s-90s timeframe ("amensity") -- and as always, in center square with his 1975-90 Showcase Showdown request, "Julius121081".

  • Bob Hilton's announcing definitely improved between the 1/20/86 episode and this one. His prize copy reading was great from the get-go, but the intro and "Come on down!" calls were much stronger by this point. Interaction with Barker was still lacking, but that would've come with time. I can see why they wanted to hire him.

  • Definitely agree on that -- although Hilton really should have known better than to turn this down for hosting "Bamboozle" (a "To Tell The Truth"-esque show) without realizing the lawsuit possibility.

    On a side note, I have to approve all comments before they can be shown. As such, please don't try to post more than three times at most. Thanks. :-)

  • Thank you so much! Been waiting for this one. Which is the one where Bob Hilton almost calls Bob Barker Bob Eubanks?

  • ... I am totally drawing a blank on this one, Travis. The only thing remotely relevant is when Bob Eubanks was called as a contestant on 1/10/86, but that was Rich Jeffries announcing.

  • Channel 10 rocks! I'm pretty sure BBB has had situations like that before where the bargain prices don't have much of a difference.

  • @WarioBarker88 I'm still pissed about that 25 year later. I started this episode on the trading circuit ten years ago.

  • Right. And this is why Press Your Luck was soon cancelled.

  • This was 6 days before Rod Roddy became the permanent announcer.

  • Bob Hilton WAS announcing the New Newlywed Game at the time.

  • My problem with Bob Hilton is that he didn't have interaction with Bob Barker. Other than that, he was good.

  • Bob Hilton would've been a great announcer! But, Rod was good also!

  • I remember reading on the first Bob Hilton episode that you uploaded and someone said "Bon almost said Bob Eubanks."
