loft space before conversion

A short video of the loft space before work started on the conversion. As you can see its a modern truss roof. Currently the space is only used for light storage with a boarded area and access is via a cheap loft ladder. It will take around 6 weeks to convert this loft into a new bedroom.

Hi thanks for the comments - I've got some more videos to upload that will show the insulation and the completed bedroom. The building inspectors in the UK are very strict regarding the insulation. I'll see about getting the other videos uploaded in the next few days so you can see the rest of it.

I'm glad to hear that. when i first saw the video i didn't know what would be done to the bedroom to ensure comfort from the weather. But i'm glad to hear that it's all taken care of. In the US we have the same type of building regulations also.

Yes, of course it will be insulated. This will keep it warm in winter and cool in summer. UK building regulations ensure that loft conversions are completed to a high standard. This winter was an exceptionally cold one for the UK, the new bedroom was kept very warm by just a small radiator running off the gas central heating.

In the summer it keeps nice and cool with a lovely breeze that comes thorugh when you open up the velux windows on both sides.

I bet it will get hot up there in the summer. and freezing in the winter. i hope it's going to be insulated and have A/C and heat.
