In his last major performance before BGT, Paul took on the huge role of Des Grieux from Puccini's Manon Lescaut. This is probably the most demanding aria from the opera, right at the end of Act 3, for which Paul is singing for 25 minutes pretty much non stop before this. Manon has been condemned and is being transported to America as a lady of ill repute. Des Grieux attempts to rescue her by force, but gives in and pleads with the captain to allow him to come with them

He is shaking like a leaf and sounds as pushed and strained as a singer can be without destroying his instrument immeditly.

Thanks for posting this. Something where opera fans can comment truthfully about this hack away from the delusion of his "Nessun dorma" nuts. Truly horrible.

OMG!!! What high camp this is! The translation and the singing are unique to say the least.
