how quaint in '68, people were using the sidewalks during the race.

THIS VIDEO IS SIMPY A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
it's possible to understand how was different that world from actual F1. First of all it's differenta the track. before there are alsto the trees near to the board of the road while now everbody preachs safety! And how are different the cars without back aileron. thak you so much

DrBGW this is great I was there, I was 16 and I thought F1 was the coolest thing in the world. I read every Road & Track, Sports Car Graphic, that I could get. I still have the program, my Circulaire's, for the F3 and F1 races and a poster for the1966 race. I remember the sound as they came out of the tunnel, the induction noise was HUGE. Jim Clark had just died, so I was really rooting for Graham Hill and Lotus. I have a Lotus-Caterham 7 & I remember Jimmy, Colin & Graham thanks

Thankyou for making such amazing footage available to all !
I'm assuming Stewart was at Indy for the race ( and Hulme ) ?
-
thats incredible, i bet it was easy to move around from corner to corner in those days, near impossible these days
Thank-you for these extraordinary images.
Here in Australia, back then, we'd have to wait about 6 weeks to read/see the Brit magazines' race-coverages!! I never thought I'd ever see actual fims. Superb.

Hah! Worth waiting 41 years then? Thanks!
We never get ANY coverage of Bathurst over here...

Was this footage you caught yourself DrBGW? This is fantastic archival stuff you got here! It would have been a bonus if the technology at the time could get the sound of the cars, but its a feast for the eyes nonetheless! Thanks Doc.

All my own work! And as a paying customer as well, none of the advantages of being Medical Officer there. I have some film of many of these cars at the Monaco Historique, with sound and better quality. I'll work on it...

Great footage , cant get over the safety precautions or lack there of . People walking on the sidewalk right next to the track , INSANE.

Have a look at my Targa Florio movie. If Monaco was insane, what would you call that? CROWDS of people walking along the track. OK you could hear cars coming, but it is no wonder they stopped it in the end!
