Accident Almost Kills Drill Rig Operator

This drill rig fell over during construction activities at the Huntington Beach Strand. This exclusive video shows a time lapse. This shook the neighborhood at 7:32 February 15, 2006. It felt like a sharp jolt from an earthquake. The drill rig is drilling pilings for an underground parking structure. Luckily the operator was able to leap from the falling drill rig and no one was seriously injured.

Looks like he had too much downpressure and wasnt paying attention. the drill rod pushed down too hard and picked up the rig, then the weight of the rig bent the rod and it tipped over
