A MIDI file of my solo, PDF notation file of my solo, and MIDI and MP3 backing tracks are available on my website at
http://www.Lot2Learn.com.

Most of you know that I am a HUGE fan of McCoy Tyner and have an affinity towards his style of playing. There is something about the energy in his music that is very life-affirming to me. When I immerse myself in his style of playing it is less about the individual notes being played and more about the energy.

Items of importance for me are:
1. Overall "shape" of the lines which are then strung together to create phrases
2. Interplay and synergy between right and left hands.
3. Going "outside" the tonal center yet always knowing where it is so as to be able to come back at any moment. This provides continuity and helps keep the listener engaged by "reeling them back in" so they are not totally lost and have no idea where the soloist is in the song.
4. To go along with #3 above - having purpose, meaning and intent in the solo gives direction as you and the listener proceed on a spontaneous journey into creative exploration.

Annotations are at a minimum in this piece to allow you to focus on the above statements during your listening.

Tech Notes:
Performed on Roland FP-4 using stock Piano sound
MidiKeyz software was used to create the virtual keyboard view which was captured on-screen using Camtasia software.
Video software used Serif Movie Plus X and Adobe Premiere Elements
Adobe Audition audio software used as well.

Thanks for listening!
