  • the bible is an archaic old book written by ancient people who had no other way to explain natural phenomena, so they created a so-called "allpowerful being" .

I'm really pissed about this. Stupid ignorant theists. The bible shoudlbe banned. how could they possibly justify the murder of a little girl unless they found some "justification" in the so-called "good book?"

  • Why would anyone follow intstructions in a book labeled "How to train up..." anything? Seriously... train up? Why don't they call it "Yeehaw! Maws and Paws, this book is fer to learn ya 'bout child rearin' ". Religious folks have it SOOOOO easy, to be an expert in any other field, you have to go to school for years and years, or apprentice under a master, or spend years honing your craft; these guys just pull any old crap out of their ass, and the sky-daddy followers just lap it up.

  • I'm a believer, and this is not anything close to the point of the bible. Pisses me off that these people become the 'norm' that the world sees christians as.

  • Isn't that hitting? No, it's spanking. What's the difference? Hitting you do with your hand and spanking is when you BLOW THEIR FUCKING LITTLE HEADS OFF, MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!!

  • I think that the Pearls have a right to espouse pain- not physical injury- as method of conditioning; all the same, I'm sure they are wrong. I grew up in a loving home, primarily without religion. When I did wrong, my parents explained why my behavior was harmful and expressed sadness. Yes, I felt emotionally bad, and that was part of the point- but it was also the point to learn. To learn and grow and become a better person.

I have never struggled with religion- I have left it behind.

  • I used to be into god but people, like my history teacher ect would tell me that its stupid and shit and I ignored them but then i started reading stories about how Christians abuse money donated by churches n I used to have this Christian "friend " who told me that all non-christians go to hell...and that's when I started to think straight and became an atheist at 13...somehow Im happier that I am an atheist than a christian

  • Using violence to teach children not to be violent..... yeah, makes perfect sense...

  • According to the dictionary spanking is defined as "An act of slapping, esp. on the buttocks as a punishment for children USUALLY DONE BY HAND" It's not hitting they say? WTF Is going on with the wrold?

  • Maybe if you would take the time to read the ENTIRE book, you would understand that what the Pearls are advocating is not to discipline your child but to train them to do the right thing. I can take anything out of context and make an argument in my favor. Please educate yourself before listening to one sided propaganda... It rings a familiar tune to do that. Last time humanity did listen unquestioningly to propaganda we lost 55 million lives...
