I can't believe American media. I thought Australian media was bad. You HAVE to be unbiased or everybody should instantly turn off. News programmes aren't for debates, they are for presentations of news. That is all.
These debates are there to convince the public, and we know that the public knows sod all (the very same public that voted for MonkeyBush TWICE). I wouldn't consult the public on a possibly dangerous skin condition, I would consult a dermatologist (specialist in the field)...
The next time you see astronomy photos of galaxies or nebula, you should scream to the high heavens about fraud and global scientific conspiracies. Astronomers extensively "reduce" (massage/remove) their data (all scientists do) to see just the item of interest. They often add color to make it more meaningful.
It's absurd to accuse scientists of disception for not showing known-wrong data in their public presentations that aren't *about* evaluating experimental methods.
Re: " why not show both graphs, and show the user the divergence, or even show the graft in a different colour?"
Showing known-wrong data on a cover of a report makes about as much sense as, for an astronomy report cover, showing a Hubble Telescope picture of a nebula in black & white rather than adding in colors. Those two examples demonstrate the same amount of "deception".
They probably should've shown a different colors, but it's no big deal - it was a COVER for a report.
Re: "The fact that they used it as the cover for their paper is more damning, not less."
Wrong. It's not their fault that you're too stupid to understand the difference between "this for the public showing Earth's temp history" versus "here's data submitted for peer review for we scientists to evaluate." No matter how many times and ways you repeat your allegation, it won't be any less wrong. You simply don't know what you're talking about - and you're too dumb to grasp even that.
Re: "what possible reason could they have for grafting one graph over another?"
I already said - twice. Please read more carefully.
Re: "Other than the reason they state outright in the email. It *IS* deliberately misleading"
No it's not. The graph function wasn't to evaluate the method - that took place publically in the journals. Rather, it was a COVER of a report intended to show Earth's temp history. Your objection is nonsense.
what possible reason could they have for grafting one graph over another? Other than the reason they state outright in the email. It *IS* deliberately misleading. The fact that they used it as the cover for their paper is more damning, not less. why not show both graphs, and show the user the divergence, or even show the graft in a different colour?
6. Re: "it should be an anathema to anybody associated with science."
People associated with science should know enough to not levy such ignorant unjustified and serious allegations without knowing WTF they're talking about. That's the behavior of fools, trolls, and political hacks, not scientists. Then again, it's been decades since there've been credible objections to the consensus in the scientific world - the "debate" now targets only the ignorant public and partisan hacks like you.
@jawsboris72 Lolwut? Have you ever heard of Upton Sinclaire's The Jungle? The point of media is to expose problems that people normally won't see.

cont - they have authored articles attempting to explain away the divergence problem. As it renders the proxy worthless, that is hardly unsurprising.
