USAID's 'Links to Learning' Program selected 18 male and female students from Middle and Secondary schools of FATA (Pakistan) and sent them to the U.S. for a 2 week exchange visit. As cultural ambassadors and future leaders in their community, students from FATA learnt about use of computers and communications technology, observed best practices in American schools and formed long-lasting friendships.
The experience is helping these students see their education in new way, where they take leadership roles in their schools and change cultural perceptions.
USAID has sent more than a 100 male and female students to the U.S. since 2008 from Sindh, Balochistan, rural areas around Islamabad and FATA.
