Matthew E. May is the author of the forthcoming In Pursuit of Elegance: Why the Best Ideas Have Something Missing and of The Elegant Solution: Toyotas Formula for Mastering Innovation, which was selected as one of 800CEORead.coms Best Business Books of 2006, and in 2008 won the Shingo Prize for Excellence.

A popular speaker, he lectures on creativity and innovation to corporations, governments, and universities around the world, and is currently Senior Lecturer at Pepperdine University Graduate School of Business in Malibu, California, where he teaches an advanced experimental course entitled Creativity and Innovation in Organizations to second-year MBA students.

Matt spent nearly a decade as a fully-retained strategic adviser to Toyota, helping drive widespread innovation: Toyota now implements over 1 million ideas each year. He currently works confidentially with a select number of leading organizations. He is a contributor to the Financial Times Handbook of Management, and his articles have appeared in national publications such as USAToday, Strategy & Business, The American, Wharton Leadership Digest, and Quality Progress. He has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, and on CNN and National Public Radio.
