Ever since the dawn of day, leadership has been the key to having a successful business and team.

The president of the United States is a perfect example of what a leader does and is capable of. Successful businesses, to name a few; Apple, Microsoft, and PepsiCo have all been lead by a leader. And, if it hadn't been for those leaders, who knows where these businesses would be today.

As a result, leadership, the quintessential characteristic of a person who is able to build, mentor and guide others towards setting and reaching once thought impossible goals have changed the way businesses are ran.

More often, being a leader wasn't a job most were up for. In fact, most are looking for guidance oppose to being that leader. And this would make most wonder, why is it so important for people in business and/or starting a home business to have that leader? It all comes down to this, in order to quickly become successful, people need guidance so they can be shown the way towards reaching the highest levels of success. Moreover, this is all due to the limited knowledge or experience for knowing what it takes to succeed.

For those who are looking to reach that level of success, what better than to have that leader guide them in the same direction they are in.

All while this mentoring process is going on, one will begin to learn what embodies the many characteristics of a leader. Jerome Ratliff best describes what it takes to be a leader as, "Being able to guide people within the same team towards accomplishing massive amounts of success."

That process is handled over a period of time which consists of learning and adopting new leadership skills. A best example that describes that learning process is, failure intermingled with success. This is what is referred to as "experience" and one cannot succeed without failure.

It's difficult to say in what direction ones business will end up without a leader, but one thing is for sure, if the business intends on growing quickly in a successful manner, then that leader is more inclined to guiding the team towards leadership and reaching "massive amounts of success".
