Protesters have marched on the British Embassy in Buenos Aires, demanding Argentina end all diplomatic ties with London, as a war of words over the Falkland Islands intensifies.

Earlier this week David Cameron, the UK prime minister, accused the country of "colonialism" in its claim to what Argentines call "Las Malvinas".

Al Jazeera's Simon McGregor-Wood reports.

  • so it was revealed today that £300.000 pounds were spent on flowers for the halls of westminster over 3 years..just so the politicians had something to look at as they entered their subsidized canteen...and it gets better..another £400.000 spent on the upkeep of 12 fig trees outside portcullis house at westminster....what the bloody hell"s going on..no wonder london receives more funding than the whole of scotland.....bloody westminster!

  • @cardensdriving its not about blaming england or the union..its about the realization of national identity..i cant put my finger on it...but somethings changed in scotland...a mass movement somehow being driven towards the goal of independence..if i could put my finger on it id say its the long years of most of scotland voting for labour and being taken for granted by labour that has turned the voter towards the snp...and a change but their are other factors as well.....

  • @snpforever019 Why swap one union for another? Why throw the baby out with the bath water? Tony Blair,Gordon Brown and Cameron are Scottish, one way or another and as you said, voted in by our united kingdom, even by the English. Be proud of our union,we achieved great things together. Don't be seduced by the European dream, because it's the boys from the Clyde, the Thames,Tyne, Mersey and the Taf that have fought and died together for our freedom. Who else?

  • yip your correct....westminster will never let go of south west england..without a struggle....i dont see a way out for the regions that want autonomy.......

  • @snpforever019 A federal UK is one way. But I can't see the old wigs in Westminster allowing that.

  • @krackersdave yes your correct of course i watched a documentary about this and the people in the south east..of england feel bitter towards london..and want to govern themselves........whats the answer?

  • @snpforever019 London only has itself to blame - it's paranoid centralisation of power into London and the south east is leading to the inevitable break up of the UK and England.

  • @krackersdave isnt it true that cornwall and devon....infact most of the south-west of england would rather govern themselves..than be governed by westminster...could their independence if obtained.....lead to a regional break-up of england altogether.....something that would please several european powers.....

  • @cardensdriving exactly this is where id like scotland to be to have the best of both worlds.....to be part of the UN like Norway..and still sends forces not fight but so send aid in war torn europe....and if youd read my comment properly youd have seen i said like finland and norway..who do well out of europe and more crucially are roughly the same size of population as scotland..and scotland doesnt need to adopt the euro..if it doesnt wish to do so....

  • @snpforever019 London can't stand alone - I hear lots of bollocks about London's GDP funding the rest of the UK... Thats a bit rich considering it's only GOT a GDP because it's the capital and all corporate tax is paid there...

If London left the UK it would be a ghost town within a year.
