  • yep. think we have a local nightingale here in mid calder freaked ,me out at first to here birdsong at 2.am but now I just love it, knowing what it is.

  • @sjlove2bird Sorry, I've changed my mind, but if its not in the States then it is a nightingale, on further listening there are some classic nightingale phrases in there. I listened with headphones and the volume of nightingale is there. The 'wildaboutimages' film is a typical European view, though not in the UK where they are skulkers and sing fron deep within a tree or bush. Most people expect a colourful bird and are surprised by the brown-ness!

  • @sjlove2bird Definitely not a Mockingbird or Catbird. This bird is not a mimid (family). I know because I've grown up seeing & hearing both.

  • @upopaepops It's definitely not a Mockingbird, they are common in California (where I live). The post says Nightengale, but I cannot comment from experience. I

  • @sjlove2bird  This isn't in Europe is it?. It is definitely NOT a nightingale. I've never heard (or seen) mockingbird in the wild but it sounds like a recording of one that I've got. I've experienced dozens of nightingales in the wild. They are 'flutier' than this bird, less burry.

  • they say it's not pretty because it's grey without colours, it's more like saying to don;t judge by appearence
