Newly purchased Oceanus with frequent malfunctions:
OCW-T400TD-1A, module # 5054
purchased on 5/27/2010 in Taiwan, cannot be returned for a refund or replacement

The analog hands frequently stops moving, and cannot be corrected by home position reset (H-set)

The hands will start moving after hours wearing it, but they are no longer in sync with digital time. Only at this stage, the watch responds to H-set

Since getting the watch, this has happened more more than 10 times. Now it behaves like this every day.

The video was recorded at 9:23am on 7/10/2010. The hands stopped at around 11pm the day before. They do not move after tilting the watch, or by pressing buttons. As shown in the video, the watch did not respond to manual H-set. The digital time is accurate.

  • 有問題 應該是拿去店家問吧? 你這標題也一竿子打翻一艘船

    就這樣說OCEANUS系列都是不好的錶? 太失偏頗了

  • @GOODGA

Yes I sent it to US CASIO maintenance because it would cost me about $100 to send it back to Taiwan for repair. I got the watch back and now it has a whole different set of problems. The hands are no longer in sync with digits and the battery can never be charged full.

I think I am entitled to my opinion based on my experience. I don't think anybody should waste their hard earned $500+ on a watch with questionable quality. I stand by my statement unless CASIO can prove it otherwise.

  • @GOODGA Sent to CASIO US maintenance (TIME MACHINE USA),back STILL NOT working, and they lost both hands and put 2 non-compatible old hands in it.

Sent back to TW finally, they considered warranty voided because somebody else has opened it.

    No more CASIO for me!

  • Hi, did you try leaving it in the sun all day, to ensure its fully charged? Did you try contacting Casio Japan directly regarding the warranty? Whats the situation with the watch now?

Sounds like a quality control issue, I can't believe your Oceanus broke down after 2 months. I love the Casio Oceanus and think its one of the best watches ever made. I have an OCW-S1050J (5 band - no Tough MVT.), and after 2 years its still like new. Maybe theres issue with the Tough MVT.?

  • @miketite

Glad to hear you have an excellent watch! Maybe it's just this model.

yes I gave it plenty of sunshine! The battery indicator is always pointing to high. The behavior does not fit any battery level described in the manual.

Casio America is very kind to take in this watch. I hope I can hear from them soon! The watch is not sold in US so they may have difficulties finding parts.

Tough MVT did not help because it silently corrected the slow hand at :55. It actually masked the problem.

  • Oceanus are very good watches, yours is just one in a million... you can't just label a whole brand like that, really. "Oceanus is not a good watch"..? YOURS is not, but generally they are great.

  • who the fuck would spend $500 on a Casio anyways?!
