A short improvisation to "The Chairman's Waltz" from the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha", composed by John Williams and performed by Yo Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. No copyright infringement intended and all musical credits go to those mentoned above. I decided to use the style of ballet, mixed with some contemporary for this improvisation, and is purely an emotional response to this emotive piece of music which was chosen at random from a selection of songs of about the same tempo. I have been doing Somatic work for the last two weeks working intensely with cranial sacral therapist, dancer and choreographer Shannon Cooney, so being in touch with my cerebral spinal fluid at the moment led to the selection of song possibilities. I love the John Cage and Merce Cunningham method of creation working from "chance theory", so this was a spur of the moment expression of my interest in this work.
