This is a simple instructional clip that shows how to create components with pad shapes other than the regular rectangular, rounded, octagonal or rounded-rectangle in Altium Designer.

  • Hi man, very nice your videos!

I have a question about this special pad. What you did for the polyregion does not generate an clearance error? I'm trying to create a pad with a polyregion but when I put the part on the design a clearance error appears between the pad and te polyregion.

    Regards

    Leo

  • @CARELLEelectronics Thanks! The reason my poly regions do not generate DRC errors is because I used Tools » Configure Physical Nets - this command automatically updates the net assignment of the poly regions based on the assignment of the other objects they are touching.

  • Sorry! It's not the Tools menu, it is Design » Netlist » Configure Physical Nets. Use this to resolve net assignments of net ties as well (see the planar transformer video on my channel).

  • Hi mate,

Very nice presentation. I was struggling to solve a violation of a complex pad. You showed the way. Thanks for that.
