@boondocksaint18 I wouldn't doubt it man! Climate and altitude play a big part in this stuff! My Mom lives in Austin and I'm planning to go down there soon and see what I can do there!
-
@AdrenalineJunky17 I wonder. my car as it sits made a best time of 11.22 . i need to head out your way to see if it can hit a 10sec pass .
-
@AdrenalineJunky17 Ok well we can agree . at my track good running ls1 cars are high12s low 13s. at your track theres mid to high 12s
-
@boondocksaint18 The 01 SS that I ran a 12.6 in was not an SLP SS, it was just an SS. And yes weather and location play a huge part in 1/4 runs! These runs that I am referring to(01 SS 12.6 and my Z28 12.9) were done in Dallas TX!

@AdrenalineJunky17 I would say yes they need to be taken care of. My car was always having people saying it was a freak for an auto . That SS could pull it times im sure because it was a SLP SS . meaning factory SLP exhaust and shorty headers. that will put any good ls1 car from high12s to mids . Yes 6sp driven like a whore are faster then autos in these cars . Stil l sxay it has allot more to do with where its being ran. your not getting a 12.6 at beach bend to hot to wet in he air
-
@boondocksaint18 Well freak or not it happened, which I guess means that it depends on how well the car has been maintained and driven! I found mine not looking very good on the outside, but cherry under the hood! Just pay attention to detail and you should be ok! And also, the 6spd LS1s with a good driver are quicker than the Autos! I am currently building my transmission and beefing up my Brakes and suspension so I can start some Engine mods.

@AdrenalineJunky17 .that 2001 SS was a freak..Im sure you mean the 1 thats posted on youtube. . most of the faster ls1 cars are high 12s . I personally beat almost every other ls1 car i raced and my 98 Z28 pulled a best of a 13.23 . to think all ls1 cars are mid to high 12s is nuts most are high 12s - low 13s driven right . some of are better freacks will go nuts but theres allot of 13s ls1 cars out there . who cares if some modded civic beats a stock camaro .

Wow this video definitely romanticized the civic a bit. All motor sure, the motor is there but the interior and all but on seat probably wasn't. Along with full scaffolding.. People don't be fooled by this video. Don't give into the claims of people that drive those little tin cans. It's not as cool as vin deisel makes it seem. Want the same fun go get a gocart and have fun driving it daily.

@gtrpryde No, I said I have personally run a high 12(12.8) in a stock LS1(run of the mill) Z28! Yes! But I think the record for a stock LS1(which is the engine) is a 12.4 on DRs. Read and use Common sense dude! And the LS1 Camaros that have been taken care of will run 12s the only think they need is a driver mod! And you obviously need to see what some real drivers can do with a "run of the mill" car.
No gimmicks intended. A bad run for the Z and a good run for a gutted all motor civi

Oh and stock ls1's don't do mid 12's in f-body's. Don't know where you pulled that crap out from.

@gtrpryde Yeah they do genius. I have personally driven and seen a stock 2001 SS run a 12.6 on street tires! That is my bros car. That driver in the vid sucked and you don't have a clue. The fastest stock LS1 time is 12.4(on Drag Radials) stock all the way to the paper filter. I have run 12.8 on street tires in MY 3400lb 99 Z28! Just get a good driver and you will see 12s. I run even with stock terminator cobras. Cobras are high 12 to mid 12 cars with a good driver. So are LS1 Camaros.

@AdrenalineJunky17 A 12.8 is not a mid 12. And the fastest record is a 12.4 w/ radials? So this means any 4th gen fbody will can this?
gtrpryde 1 year ago
@gtrpryde I said High TO mid 12s. Not only mid 12s dude. Read first. And it was a 6spd LS1 2001 SS Camaro the only thing done to it was the drag radials on the rear. Everything else completely stock. So therefore yes, with a very experienced driver and D.Rs should run somewhere around 12.4.

@AdrenalineJunky17
Dude what's your point? Your run of the mill 4th gen will run low 13's, and yeah your "very experienced driver" will run mid 12's with radials...
BUT wait! Drag Radials aren't stock...
99% wont break 12s. /Debate
