I never realised the LDV was so labour intensive,the full immersion painting still didnt stop these vans from rusting like hell though.Not bad vehicles but the transit was far better.Shame it's all gone though,destroyed by cheap imports and greedy executives out for a quick buck.

The Maxus and the Bigger stuff is good however I refer to the old Convoys as Light Disastrous Vehicles. So unreliable and an absolute pig to drive.

They didn't rust any worse than anything else. The Pilot and convoy were the poor relations of the van world for most of their production, solid they may have been but dynamically they didn't touch the competition which meant that values were always low, and people didn't take care of them. I run an L reg 200- not too many transits around of that vintage any more. LDVs were workhorses, nothing more.

So sad that LDV shut anthour of New Labour s F?>~@ Ups A good firm i went there on a few visits when i worked at Stadco as we did Maxus Pannels I cant understand Labour not wanting to save the company there even had orders for van s Where are people going too work We cant all work for Tesco , Morrison and Asda Very sad and fustrating So much for the working Man
