The song came during the "stump the band" portion of the show. It's a newer thing, but pretty cool. They leave two songs blank on the set list and choose the songs from the posters people bring to the show.
This was the first of the songs picked that way during the show. Bruce said they were able to play it because of their "100 years of collective bar band experience."

Springsteen, Van Halen, The Cure, whoever. The real tribute to Ray and The Kinks is that it doesn't matter who does this song it CAN'T be anything but great.
I Totally agree with you Mat Van halen didn't even remember the words as simple as the words are to this song.... Tha Kinks ruled God Save The Kinks..
It's Bruce, the Boss, he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, you see, he's the Boss, because he's the MFIC in charge, and nobody puts on a live performace like this MFIC.....
