The Hilux was sold without a real name in the USA until 1995, then the North American market got a brand new vehicle named the Tacoma, it was built to ride smoother and be lighter and cheaper to purchase, but it was also less sturdy.
The Hilux continued to be sold in the rest of the world after 1995.

@hurricanefloyd1 technically it isnt a hilux, because they werent sold in the us. the tacomas, SR5s, and "4x4 pickup" is what was sold in the us.
