Yes, that's true, thanks for clarify it. Although Schubert "connected" with the tragic nature of the poems in a special way, as he was very deeply touched/ill cause of Beethoveen's death. So afaik, and in someway, it was an expression of his intimate feelings during these moments. Though the merit for the poems belongs to Muller, of course.

People should remember that the texts are the creation of Wilhelm Muller, not Schubert's own. Muller was an insufficiently appreciated talent from an area near the Elbe further north than the Viennese Schubert. Too many people interpret the tragic Winterreise as an expression of Schubert's personality - Schubert showed great sympathy and imagination in setting Muller's poems, but people should remember the texts are by Muller.
