Smart, moving and politically engaged Half Nelson is one of the most exciting American independent films in years. Strong performances from the cast (earning Ryan Gosling an Oscar nomination for Best Actor) and an original score that includes Canadian indie rock group Broken Social Scene, enable director Ryan Fleck to weave together a moving story of redemption in an unforgiving world.

"Indie Scorcher with 2007's Hottest Actor... Witty, harrowing and glinting with edge, Half Nelson is 2007's must-see indie."
TOTAL FILM

Opened in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 20th April 2007 and now available on DVD, packed with bonus features (including Fleck and Boden's Sundance award-winning short "Gowanus, Brooklyn")

  • @robhartjr1993 I didn't really like Lars and the Real Girl..

  • i would LOVE to have Ryan as my teacher

  • holler at Broken Social Scene muzik

  • @dannypurple1979 Haven't seen "Dangerous Minds" but I assume it's one of those teacher-saves-minority-students movies. While I can see how this movie has those elements to it, I don't think it really glorifies or idealizes Gosling's character. The girl he gets to know does some soul-searching and growing up, but he's not necessarily to thank for that. He's also arguably not even a very good teacher. The classroom scenes were sometimes painful.

  • @AsumDude94 yes.
