  • hmm.. i must be VERY lucky. i was born with gastroschisis in 1992, and i havent experienced any problems in my life from it. i do have a big scar going straight down in a line where my bellybutton should be about 5 inches long. other than some weird looks at the beach, i am often proud of my condition. i joke around a lot about that show kyle xy, which everyone who has gastro knows about. they call me Alec XY. all in good fun. long story short, i am lucky to be in such good condition, thank god.

  • I was also born that way in Mexico city 26 yrs ago. I had surgery 4 months ago again because of adhesions that resulted in some bowel movements complications. This really sad how babies are born this way :(, my parents tell me they thought I was going to die, actually everyone thought so,,,, I can now tell thatI have a very normal life, things have changed and nowadays its not mortal

  • I, also was a gastro baby , born in 1973, spent the first half year of my life in a sick children's hospital. I weighed in at a mere 1 pound 2 ounces ... back then the doctors would not let my parents take any pictures of me while in that condition, they assured them that I had little chance of survival. at three months old, i weighed in at 3 lbs and developed a volleyball sized hernia, for which i needed a third operation. I am happy to say that i am a healthy 35 year old with 3 children

  • My daughter now age 4 was born with Gastroschisis. she now weighs 23 lbs. and still has trouble eating solids. She has pain when attempting to pass a stool, and wont stop crying. I don't know what causes this.. but, god bless every child with Gastro.

  • I was born with Gastroschisis, im now 27, the age of 14 I had another operation because of cysts where the skin and the scar was in my tummy.I spent 6 months in hospital in Syd Australia after I was born in a small town.only pain I get is from the scar tissue and the stretching of the scar.the 2nd operation my tummy looks kind of normal but before it looked really deformed.everything is going well. I know your wonderful child will also.

  • This is a very good cause. I personally know a child who went through this and is now a happy healty 5 year old.
