Operation Xcellerator Takes over 23 Tons of Narcotics off America's Streets and
Seizes More Than $59 Million in Drug Money

The Sinaloa Cartel is responsible for bringing multi-ton quantities of narcotics, including cocaine and marijuana, from Mexico into the United States through an enterprise of distribution cells in the United States and Canada. The Sinaloa Cartel is also believed to be responsible for laundering millions of dollars in criminal proceeds from illegal drug trafficking activities. Individuals indicted in the cases are charged with a variety of crimes, including: engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise by violating various felony provisions of the Controlled Substances Act; conspiracy to import controlled substances; money laundering; and possession of an unregistered firearm.

We successfully concluded the largest and hardest hitting operation to ever target the very violent and dangerously powerful Sinaloa drug cartel, said DEA Acting Administrator Michele M. Leonhart. From Washington to Maine, we have disrupted this cartels domestic operations—arresting U.S. cell heads and stripping them of more than $59 million in cash—and seriously impacted their Canadian drug operations as well. DEA will continue to work with our domestic and international partners to shut down the operations of the Sinaloa cartel and stop the ruthless violence the traffickers inflict on innocent citizens in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

  • That will keep you up for a while.

  • I can almost guarantee, that the CIA and the DEA are playing a very large part and responsibility under this administration, that Bush administration.... all the way back to Reagan, in killing thousands of innocent people in Mexico. This is why they always discuss but never do anything to close down the boarder. All they have done is narrow the boarder down enough to allow only 2 main corridors to smuggle drugs through, and cause a clash of the Cartels even at the cost of our own BP/police.

  • When the Dea make so-called cash or drug busts in the U.S., its always in much smaller amounts but in many different places. In the U.S., any extremely large amount of cash will draw alot more attention if it is all found in one place, causing other bureaucratic agencies to investigate further. Once the blinders come off our eyes and we do our research, its amazing when you realize how evil these governments are (Yes, including the U.S.) and what they are capable of.

  • Look at Mexico. Only the Cartels get away with killing, manufacturing and smuggling drugs with impunity while the DEA gets them their weapons.

  • Thats why they made it illegal to sell products in large quantities to make large amounts of meth in the U.S., because the corrupt politicians that work with the cartels in the U.S., realized that a large amounts of money was going other places than lining their pockets. When you buy pseudoephedrine in drug stores your name gets put in a database to watch you as a possible criminal. They are the only criminals allowed to make money of the killings and the drugs.

  • This is a REAL scary drug. Thank god for law enforcement.

  • Congratulations. You've succeeded at creating job openings for the next batch.

  • good catch but as a recent border patrol agent new hire ive learned that way more stuff gets through this drug war is a failure i joined BP cause i needed a job and theres no economy in the RIO GRANDE VALLEY TX , you can either run drugs, be in law enforcement or retail or a fruit picker
